Do you love glitter? Do you love pretty nails? If you answered yes to both questions, I found a product that’s pretty awesome. Yay, a peel-off base coat.
One day, I was waiting to be seated at a Boiling Point in San Jose for dinner. I noticed they opened up an Asian cosmetics store next door called Takashima. For those living in the Bay Area, this store is located off Hostetter Road in San Jose, California. Entering this store brought back memories of when I visited Hong Kong last year. They had so many Asian cosmetic/skincare stores on every block. I was in my happy place. Ha! That’s something you wouldn’t typically see in America.
There’s no harm to a little bit of browsing, right? What’s the worst thing that can happen in the store to a makeup junkie like me? I was pretty good about not purchasing a lot of random products; however, I did leave the store with one product. 😁
I purchased a peel-off base coat by Canmake Tokyo which is a Japanese cosmetic brand. I bought it for about $7 USD. You get 9ml of product which is less than your average nail polish. OPI and Essie nail polishes are about 15ml for your reference.
It has a normal nail polish brush, not too thin or too thick.
This is my first time trying out a peel-off base coat. You need to wait until the base coat completely dries before you apply your next layer of nail polish. You only need one layer of the base coat. It took just a couple minutes for it to dry.
For my nails, I used two layers of Essie in the shade “Nice is Nice” and topped it off with a glitter nail polish from Forever 21. To seal in everything, I used a fast drying top coat by Seche Vite.
Whenever you apply glitter to your nails, it’s always a pain to remove. You need to soak your nails in acetone which causes your nails to become weak and brittle.
I really love the base coat. When your nails start chipping, you can simply just peel it off. It doesn’t come off in one go but you don’t need any tools to remove the polish. Acetone is also not necessary!
I would definitely repurchase this product. I’ve never seen anything else like this in stores like Target or Walmart. I’m really happy to have stumbled across this nail polish. It’s going to be a good addition to my nail polish collection.
If glitter polish is not your cup of tea, you can still use this base coat under your normal colored nail polishes. It minimizes the amount of acetone needed to remove every nail polish application. Keep in mind that acetone will cause damage your nails in the long run if you use it excessively.
There were other nail polishes in Takashima by Canmake Tokyo. I will be back to check out the rest of their products. Perhaps, make a couple more peel-off colored nail polish purchases. Hehe. 😊
Until next time!
P.S. It means a lot to me when my posts are interesting, funny or even helpful to anyone who reads them. Thank you for the kind words and compliments I received from many of you since I started my blog. See you guys next week! 😘
