Into the New Year with a Recap

Hey guys!

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday spending time with your family, friends or significant other to end the year of 2017.

Personally, 2017 flew by for me. Where did time go? There were lots of ups and downs this year that happened within my job and relationship. When life brings you down, just remember to try to pick yourself back up. When life gets tough, never give up. Always look for help when you need it the most. There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. Situations just vary by how long it takes to get to the end of the tunnel.

Whether you had a good year or bad year, look forward to an even better year in 2018!

It’s been a long time since my last blog post. Just wanted to do a little update with some things that has happened or is happening within my life.

Holiday Break

I had a pretty good holiday because my job gave us two weeks off. Yay! Love my job! 😊

During the first week, I went to a 98 degrees concert. It was so much fun to hear their classics and sing along. It was such a throwback! It was also nice to hear some of their songs from their new holiday album “Let It Snow.”

I also went to Disneyland and California Adventures. It was my first time being at the park during the holiday season. In case some of you do not know, Christmas is actually my favorite holiday. I really enjoyed the beautiful lights and holiday decor. It’s kind of sad to find out Paradise Pier is going away but I am looking forward to seeing Pixar Pier.

During my second week, I had a chance to go hiking with my mom in Sunol, CA. The weather was so nice during the last two weeks of December. It was relaxing to take myself away from the city and spend some quality time with my mom.

For Christmas, I got to spend it with my family on my dad’s side. I also attended a White Elephant gathering with all my cousins. I won some Phillip Hue Smart bulbs.Β πŸ˜„

Thach Family 2017 Christmas

It was great to simply just reconnect with my family. Some times we are so busy with our lives, we forget to make time to spend it with people who care about us the most. I just need to remember that as time goes by when I’m too busy living my daily life, my parents are also getting older by the day. For 2018, I want to spend more time with my family. I look forward to initiating more events with my parents and my brother.

I’ve made a decision to go back to school part time beginning 2018. I’m currently taking a class at SJSU for the Winter. It was a difficult decision to make because school seems so long ago. On the other hand, I’m also working full-time. I wanted to take additional classes in Accounting to professionally develop myself within my career.

I felt a little rusty with the idea of school but class has been good thus far. What you learn in school is different than what you learn when you start working in the industry. Going back to school after working as an Accountant for 4 years has helped me get a better grasp of the material that school tries to teach. Things you learn from textbooks are just words until you implement what you know into your daily job.

Juggling between work and study is difficult; however, just remember your ability to accomplish anything depends solely on your personal commitment. What are you willing to give up for what you’re trying to achieve?

As some of you may know, my best friend asked me to be her maid of honor in 2017 for her wedding this coming year. I’ve never been on a bridal party before. I know it requires a lot of preparation but I’m up for the challenge. If any of you have ideas or tips and tricks to being maid of honor, please let me know! A lot of new things to learn in 2018 about the wedding industry.

I’m currently working on a few personal projects for my best friend’s wedding. I love personalizing things and working on DIY projects.

Below is one of the projects I’ve been working on. It’s a standing glitter letter sign that can be used for her engagement party and wedding banquet.

The materials I used to make the standing letters were purchased from Michaels and Home Depot. I am looking forward to spending more time with my best friend in 2018 to plan events leading up to her big day.

For this new year, my focus will be on the growth of knowledge and continuous education in order to develop myself personally and professionally. Never stop learning. πŸ˜‰Β On the other hand, I will also focus on building my relationship with family and friends that are closest to me.

January will be a busy month for me so I won’t have a chance to try out new products. Follow me on Instagram to see some snippets of my life. Stay tuned for new review posts coming this February.
